Work with parts & cables
Create reusable parts, branch harnesses, and change cable routes.
Cable and wire colors
Select a cable and set its Cable jacket color in the Inspector. A single conductor appears as its colored wire. Change each wire with its color swatch or color preset.
New ground wires default to black, or brown when the part uses brown. DC positive defaults to red. Independent signals get different default colors. Saved wire colors stay unchanged.
Ground wires remain visible. The router keeps separate lanes around parts and branch points. A crossing gap means the wires do not connect. A junction dot marks a real branch.
Split a cable into wires
Select a multi-wire cable and choose Break out conductors under Routing. Choose the end that keeps the bundle and the segment where it ends. Set a destination pin for each outgoing wire, then choose Create breakout.
For a servo, keep its three-wire cable to a nearby branch point. Route V+ to the power trunk, GND to the ground trunk, and only Signal to the control board. Select an existing branch pin as a destination to join that trunk.
Select a crowded junction and choose Distribute branches for multiple local taps. Choose a segment and Delete segment to remove an extra bend. Undo reverses these changes.
Use the parts library
Click a part card to open its editor. Use its + button or drag the card onto the canvas to add an instance.
Choose New part to build one yourself, or describe it under Create part with AI. In the editor, set its name, size, connectors, pin labels, and wire colors.
Save a reusable part
Save part saves to the parts catalog only. Save & Add also places a copy on the current canvas.
Building projects default new parts to the Building category. Electronics projects use Electronics. Use All parts or search if you cannot find one.
To revise a placed part, select it and choose Edit part & connector layout. Disconnect attached wires before removing their pins.
Connect and branch
- Click a connector on the first part.
- Click empty canvas to add optional bends.
- Click the destination connector.
Select the cable to change its label, wires, colors, or pin mappings. Inspect the mapping when connectors use different pin names.
For a branch, select Connect cable, click a cable segment, then a destination connector. A junction appears when the connection is valid.
Move a cable route
Cables use a slim jacket with colored conductors exposed at part connectors. Building jackets are yellow; electronics jackets use a conductor accent. The Inspector shows each wire and its pin mapping.
Select a cable and drag a segment to move that run. The connected parts stay in place. Use Follow a wall to route against a chosen wall, or Reset to automatic route to start over.
If a route needs more space, move the nearby part or branch point. The Inspector identifies blocked routes.
Moving a part keeps its wires connected. Use โ or Ctrl + Z to undo a change. Undo and Redo keep the current pan and zoom.
